  • I first met Kiko around 8 years ago for a cover shoot for Burrn! magazine. I had no idea who he was, other than the fact he was tremendously talented and that the staff from Burrn! held him in high regard. Since then I’ve come to see what a guitar virtuoso he is, and I’m deeply encouraged by his depth and talent. Very few Megadeth alumni have had the same feel and ability as Kiko. As Frank Sinatra says, “the best is yet to come!” Dave Mustaine

BRUCE DICKINSON UNDERGOES CANCER TREATMENT

The following statement has been officially published by the band:

  • Just before Christmas, MAIDEN vocalist Bruce Dickinson visited his doctor for a routine check-up. This led to tests and biopsies which revealed a small cancerous tumour at the back of his tongue. A seven-week course of chemotherapy and radiology treatment was completed yesterday. As the tumour was caught in the early stages, the prognosis thankfully is extremely good. Bruce’s medical team fully expect him to make a complete recovery with the all clear envisaged by late May. It will then take a further few months for Bruce to get back to full fitness. In the meantime, we would ask for your patience, understanding and respect for Bruce and his family’s privacy until we update everyone by the end of May. Bruce is doing very well considering the circumstances and the whole team are very positive.

Behemoth to release official biography on Metal Blade Records – Behemoth: Devil’s Conquistadors out in February

Behemoth: Devil’s Conquistadors by Łukasz Dunaj serves as the definitive Behemoth biography. This book, officially blessed, or rather damned, by Behemoth, serves as an in depth look at the history of the events that materially influenced the band. As Dunaj points out in the intro, this isn’t “Poland’s response to Motley Crue’s biography The Dirt.” Simply put Behemoth: Devil’s Conquistadors is the story ofBehemoth, their music, and their rise to the upper echelon of metal and becoming a household name in their native homeland, Poland.

Behemoth: Devil’s Conquistadors is a 490 page, hardcover tome that is being released by Metal Blade Records in February 2015. The book includes quotes and anecdotes from current and former members that provide context and details in addition to the author’s narrative, plus interviews with Tomas Krajewski, Rob Darken, Graal, Havok, and more. The artistically presented pages are splattered with old scans of photos of the band, flyers, lyric sheets, etc. Pre-orders are available now at metalblade.com/behemoth. The passages below serve as previews to the book.

From the foreword by Krzysztof Azarewicz:
“If, as a cultural anthropologist, I were to point to a single cosmic force which Behemoth’s music expresses, I would name it not Satan but Dionysus. A deity that represents not only the intoxicating influence of cosmic energies and earthly benefits, but also their benevolent healing properties. A deity of strength and pride. A deity of creative might.”

Nergal discusses the acquisition of his first electric guitar:
“The first communion was a very important moment for me. I know this sounds ridiculous, but it’s true. Of course, not as a religion experience – I didn’t understand anything and couldn’t care less. Same as all the other kids. We all stood there with our votive candles and waited for one thing. Cash. The first communion must be one moment when you get the most money you’re ever going to get as a child. And for this money, I bought myself my first electric guitar. Not a bike, no Legos – a guitar.”

‘Nobel Peace Prize Concert’ with STEVEN TYLER And NUNO BETTENCOURT among others

Many popular artists were invited to perform at this year’s ‘Nobel Peace Prize Concert’ in Oslo and rock’n’roll played it’s part as well through Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler that sang alongside Nuno Bettencourt.

  • “We are thrilled to have these great artists at this year’s Nobel Peace Prize Concert. This year we will focus more than ever before on the Prize winners. The reason for the Concert is to honor them and we have two such eloquent winners with such dramatic stories to tell! We will showcase music from their home countries with a Bollywood celebration in addition to our major international stars Queen Latifah and Steven Tyler.”Geir Lundestad, Director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute

Professor RICHARD DAWKINS to feature in Nightwish’s new album

The Finish band proudly announced a surprise appearance on their eighth album of the renowned and controversial ethologist and evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins.

On their Facebook page pictures from the studio were uploaded to mark the event. The mastermind behind Nightwish Tuomas Holopainen is a declared fan of the scientist and has mentioned he is reading his books avidly.

  • “I’m reading them at the moment. I was just reading it an hour ago,” he told Roadrunner Records. “‘The Magic Of Reality’ it’s called, and it has the most beautifully written introduction to science ever. Just full of thought plays. It’s great.”
